How to Get The Roost on Your Island

"It seems to get Brewster, you have to talk to Blathers. But it seems you have to have a certain amount completed in the museum to get it and no one seems to know how much needs completion. I finished the art section but still working on the others after restarting my island, so hopefully I can get that completed in the near future. He may just be a nice cherry on top if you have to finish the museum completely. Hopefully it's not THAT difficult to get him. But you also need to get Gyroids to get him there, which are very easy to find. They will be at least one on every mystery boat tour and you can find them on your island just like fossils and such. You bury them back in the ground and the next day will be complete gyroids you dig out of the ground." -@Mai_Plays_Games

16 New Villagers

Many new villagers are appearing in Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s 2.0 update. According to the Pocket Camp datamining team on r/ACPocketCamp/, the gender and personality of the new villagers have been confirmed. The following information is based on the villagers’ Pocket Camp phonebook profiles. The pronouns used in this article are based on the profiles.

Sasha is a male rabbit villager. His personality type is lazy. Sasha’s birthday is May 19th.“Sasha loves taking selfies. He makes the exact same face in every photo, but that doesn’t stop him from taking about a hundred a day.”

Ione is a female squirrel villager. Her personality type is normal. Ione’s birthday is September 11th. “Ione’s tail looks just like a starry night sky. She’s usually pretty quiet, but she’ll talk your ear off if you ask her about constellations.”

Tiansheng is a male monkey villager. His personality type is Jock. Tiansheng’s birthday is August 18th. “Tiansheng insists that his shoes help him run faster. He’s always running to his destinations, so he never takes them off… which makes it hard to test his theory.”

Shino is a female deer villager. Her personality type is peppy. Shino’s birthday is October 31st. “Shino seems like the quiet, mysterious type - before she starts talking, that is. She tries to befriend everyone she meets and will probably tell them her whole life story in the process.”

Petri is a female mouse villager. Her personality type is Snooty. Petri’s birthday is October 23rd. “Petri is always doing some kind of research. When she’s close to a breakthrough, she will stay in her laboratory for days at a time… so maybe bring her a snack.”

Cephalobot is a male octopus villager. His personality type is smug. Cephalobot’s birthday is April 1st. “With his metallic body and sci-fi flair, Cephalobot looks like he can shoot laser beams out of his eyes. Wait… He can’t actually do that, right?”

Quinn is a female eagle villager. Her personality type is uchi/big sister. Quinn’s birthday is January 20th. “Quinn is known for her supercool style. To maintain her reputation, she always gets dressed up to go out, even if she’s just going to the grocery store.”

Marlo is a male hamster villager. His personality type is cranky. Marlo’s birthday is June 26th. “Rumor has it that Marlo runs some sort of underground organization. No one knows for sure because everyone is too afraid to ask.”

The following villagers appeared in previous versions of Animal Crossing games and are making their returns in the New Horizons 2.0 update.

Chabwick is a male penguin villager. His personality type is lazy. Chabwick’s birthday is December 24th. He was known as Nobuo in the Japanese-only GambeCube game Doubutsuno Mori e+.

Zoe is a female anteater villager. Her personality type is normal. Zoe’s birthday is February 10th.She makes a return to New Horizons from the original Animal Crossing on GameCube.

Ace is a male bird villager. His personality type is jock. Ace’s birthday is August 11th. Ace is another villager making a return from the original Animal Crossing.

Rio is a female ostrich villager. Her personality type is peppy. Rio’s birthday is September 10th. Frett is a male dog villager. His personality type is cranky. Frett’s birthday is October 30th. Fans may recognize Frett from the Doubutsu no Mori e+ where he was known as Champagne.

Azalea is a female rhinoceros villager. Her personality is snooty. Azalea’s birthday is December 18th. In Doubutsu no Mori e+, Azalea was known as Petunia.

Roswell is a male alligator villager. His personality is lazy. Roswell’s birthday is May 2nd. He is also making a reappearance from Doubutsu no Mori e+, where he was known as Pironkon.

Faith is a female koala villager. Her personality is normal. Faith’s birthday is March 21st. Faith previously appeared in the original Animal Crossing game.

New NPC Content

There are several new NPCs in this update/DLC expansion: Harriet, Kapp'n, Wardell, Tortimer, Brewster; as well as, new content with existing NPCs such as Harv, Reese, and Cyrus.

Kapp'n the Turtle

"With the new update you are able able to visit new mystery islands that will have different seasons and times than your own island. Go to your dock and talk to Kapp'n. One tour will cost 1000 NM and you can only take one tour per day. On the mystery island you can collect flowers and fruits as well as the usual materials and of course fish and catch bugs according to the season the island is in, but you can also dig up gyroid fragments, bushes and collect vines! If you get lucky you might even land on an island at night time with a star shower." -@Ran34

While Kapp'n navigates you to or from the mystery island you can either clap by pressing A, cheer by pressing X or be shocked by pressing Y. To end the long serenade press B. Kapp'n will complain several times, but just keep pressing B to save time.

Leif

You can buy produce from Leif on Harv's island. And he will sell them when he visits your island too. But you can also find them on Kapp'n's boat tours as well to pluck and dig up. You'll know it's produce because it'll use the dark dirt pathing around it.

Produce also works just like pumpkins do. So if you plant them and don't touch them, you get one(1) item. Water it, you get 2. Water it consistently, you get 3 over 2 days. -@Mai_Plays_Games

Farming Update

Along with pumpkins, you can now farm foods such as carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, wheat, and sugar cane.

Farm Sign Design Contest

To celebrate the addition of the farming aspect of the game, we’re holding a farm sign design contest! Post a farm/crop related sign for a chance to win 100 NMT and a crown! For inspo, see the #sign tag filled with sign designs previously uploaded by multiple creative users. For this contest, you can also attempt to make a "living sign" (like if you are working as a sign spinner/wearing a shirt made for advertising.) Be as creative as you want!

Rules:  

You must tag your design with the word “farm”

You can upload multiple designs; however, one person can’t win more than once. Ex. if the person who won first place also has the second most liked design, 2nd place will not be awarded to this same player.

Anyone attempting to cheat the system will be excluded from the contest and reviewed by our moderation team.

Do not post any inappropriate or questionable designs. If you have to ask yourself if it’s appropriate, don’t post it.

These rules are subject to change if deemed necessary.

Winners will be counted 10 days from now, November 13th, 12 pm EDT. 

If you win, you will be reached out to within the day to schedule a time to pick up your winnings. Please be available to pick up your winnings within a couple days time.

Invite Villagers to Your Home

You now have the ability to invite villagers to your home to hang out or play games. Sometimes they will even bring you a gift! The updates to the in-game camera allow you to take fun angled photos with your visiting villager; and you now also have the capability to control their reactions for pictures.
